    Topic:       Overview of Basic Hemophilia

Hemophilia is a rare, inherited or acquired bleeding disorder in which blood does not clot normally.  Johanna will discuss the economic challenges that may occur with the person affected and their family.  She will provide options and resources for treatment, education, and support.  Opportunities to access to hemophilia treatment centers (HTCs), a nationwide network funded by the Federal Government, will be presented.

Johanna Chappelle serves as the National Director of Bleeding Disorder Programs and has worked in the homecare industry for more than 22 years. She provides clinical education and training for all branch locations, customers, managed care groups and medical staff at Hemophilia Treatment centers and other related Medical facilities. She develops all CE programs, education, policy and procedures, clinical protocols and materials related to bleeding disorders. Johanna is actively involved in the Nations Hemophilia Foundation and the Hemophilia Federation of America and also has served on several boards and committees. Currently serves as the President of the New Mexico Hemophilia Chapter. She has co-authored several articles related to Hemophilia and has authored more than 5 case studies related to continuous infusion of factor. Johanna received her nursing degree from the University of Albuquerque and her Bachelors degree in Business from the Univ. of New Mexico.
