    Topic:       Understanding Social Security Disability Insurance

                        The presentation by the panel members will describe contributing factors to caregivers’ untoward actions at the bedside.  Techniques and strategies to intervene in anxietyinduced situations will be discussed and attendees will learn self-care coping skills in
personal situations.

 

Clara Merkel, BA Education, MA Theology - Clarian Health Hospice Bereavement  coordinator has worked in bereavement for more than 15 years; first as a volunteer and then as a bereavement coordinator.She has BA is in Education. She taught younger children for 10 years.She obtained her  MA is in Theology and worked in a church setting for 8 years- working with the total parish, from young children in a religious education program to faith formation with adults and teens.

At Clarian Health Hospice Clara has many opportunities to talk with the families after the death of their loved one, work with individuals in a group setting, create and conduct Memorial Services. She has learned to hold the stories of others, which allows her to present those stories in a special way.

 Helen McClain – MSW - Clarian Health Hospice – Social Worker

 The panel has over 33 years of palliative care experience dealing with conflict, grief, and loss.
